At least 27 migrants found dead in the desert near Tunisian border, Libyan government says CAIRO (AP) — At least 27 suspected migrants from sub-Saharan Africa have died in recent days in the country’s western desert near the border with Tunisia, Libyan authorities said.In a statement posted on Facebook, Libya’s Interior Ministry said late Tuesday the bodies were discovered recently near the border and that a forensic team had been deployed to the area. In the same post, the ministry published pictures of African migrants receiving treatment from Libyan medical teams.Mohamed Hamouda, a spokesperson for the Libyan government, on Wednesday confirmed the discovery of the bodies to The Associated Press, but declined to provide any further details.In recent months, Tunisian security forces began removing some migrants from coastal areas, busing them elsewhere and, migrants say, dumping some of them in the desert. Hutto ISD welcomes back students, campus construction projects continue HUTTO, Texas (KXAN) — The Hutto Independent School District welcomed back its first campus of students Wednesday at Veteran's Hill Elementary.Principal Edward Johnson said Wednesday marked the official start of school for the entire Veteran's Hill Elementary campus, but some students were already learning during the summer break.Johnson said the campus is piloting a new program that adds 25 days of additional schooling during the summer months for its students. This is the only campus in HISD to have such a program. Austin man on trip to spread father's ashes dies at Utah national park MOAB, Utah (KTVX) -- A 66-year-old man from Austin found dead Aug. 1 in Arches National Park was there to spread his father's ashes, according to his family.James Bernard Hendricks, of Austin, is believed to have died of heat stroke during a hike along the Sand Dune Arch Trail, his sister, Ruth Hendricks Brough, told the San Antonio Express-News.“He was loved by countless people because he was an unusually kind, sweet person who made friends easily," she told the outlet. "Now all these people are grieving. It was a horrible shock."Rangers from the Grand County Sheriff's Office went looking for Hendricks after he was reported overdue to return from his hike and found his car in the parking lot.
