Phishing remains one of the biggest threats to our online security."90 percent of data breaches start with phishing," said Michael Sinno, a security enginner at Google. He drops the surprising study that Gen Z is three times more likely to fall for an online scam than their grandparents. In fact, last year, scammers made off with more than $200 million dollars from people under 20. That's up from $8 million in 2017."Young people are spending more and more time online in different apps in different ways and scammers are honestly adjusting to learn their habits," said Sinno.Scams are often financially motivated. By Dana Hull and David Welch | BloombergGeneral Motors Co.’s driverless taxi unit Cruise has grounded its entire fleet just days after its license was suspended by California, in a major setback for the company which has been laying the groundwork to expand to multiple US cities and Japan.California’s Department of Motor Vehicles on Tuesday suspended Cruise from operating driverless cars in the state and accused the company of withholding crucial video of an accident involving a pedestrian in San Francisco.“The most important thing for us right now is to take steps to rebuild public trust,” Cruise said in a post on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter. “In that spirit, we have decided to proactively pause driverless operations across all of our fleets.”Federal regulators with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have also opened an investigation into Cruise. SAN MATEO – The difference between Capuchino and Aragon High’s football teams has been much greater over the years than the fourth-quarter trick play that won Thursday night’s league showdown for San Bruno’s finest.Halfback Lucas Zayac’s 53-yard touchdown pass to Ricky Arauz with 10:56 left put Capuchino in front, 21-14, and two takeaways thereafter ensured the Mustangs a share of the Peninsula Athletic League’s Ocean Division title with the Dons after their division finale.Final score: 21-14.Capuchino linebacker Danny Thomas knew the significance when teammate Mofi Folau stripped an Aragon runner of the ball at the Mustangs’ 15-yard line with 6:23 left.“I saw it on the ground,” Thomas said. “Usually, we practice the scoop and run. But, I was like, I’m just going to lay on it. I just want to get a league championship … get that banner in our gym. We’ve been waiting for it all these years.”Capuchino was all smiles on Thursday night as the Mustangs won a share of the PAL Ocean title. ...Cal prepares to face USC with Williams and Riley, plus a change for the final Pac-12 game in the rivalry

BERKELEY — If Cal officials conduct roll call Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium, Bears fans may be disappointed when USC coach Lincoln Riley and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams raise their hands and respond, “Present,” after some doubt about their availability crept in earlier this week.Better news for the home team is that Cal redshirt freshman quarterback Fernando Mendoza says he is more confident and better prepared for what will be his third career start — each one of them against a Top 25 opponent. But absent from the proceedings will be one of Cal’s most beloved former players as the athletic department made a decision sure to confuse and rile the fan base. After 46 years, the Bears’ home matchup this season against the visiting Los Angeles school is not designated the Joe Roth Memorial Game.As the Bears (3-4, 1-3) and 24th-ranked Trojans (6-2, 4-1) both try to snap two-game losing streaks in their final meeting before Cal heads off to the Atlantic ...Taylor Swift is now a billionaire, Bloomberg says

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) — A sentencing hearing for the mother of a 6-year-old who shot his teacher in Virginia has been delayed until December. Deja Taylor faces up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to felony child neglect, though prosecutors will recommend only a six-month sentence as part of a plea deal. A sentencing hearing for Taylor had been scheduled for Friday in Newport News Circuit Court, but on Thursday a judge delayed the hearing to December 15. Court records indicate the delay comes at the request of both the defense and prosecutors, in part because a report from the guardian ad litem was not yet available. In Virginia, a guardian ad litem is appointed to represent the interests of the child in cases alleging neglect. Elementary school teacher Abby Zwerner was shot in her classroom in January by Taylor’s 6-year-old son, reviving a national dialogue about gun violence and roiling the military shipbuilding city of Newport News. The bullet fired from Taylor’s...Latest news
