A massive loon taking flight — the emblem of the Minnesota United soccer team — will soon land at the corner of University and Snelling avenues in St. Paul.The loon statue, a permanent installation measuring some 35 feet tall with wings spread 90 feet across, is expected to anchor a new sculpture garden at the northwest edge of United Village, the 35 to 40 acre “super block” that is currently home to the Allianz Field soccer stadium, a drive-through/walk-up McDonald’s and not much else.Officials with the Snelling-Midway Redevelopment Group say the lack of commercial activity will soon change as work begins on the first phase of real estate development: the sculpture garden, an all-abilities playground, a small office building with structured parking for Minnesota United management and other tenants, a 160-room hotel along University Avenue with additional structured parking, a pavilion with two restaurants, and new segments of roadway and public sidewal...New Minnesota laws beginning Jan. 1: License plates, renters’ rights, sick time and more

PETERSBURGH, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Thomas S. Burdick, 32, of Petersburgh, was arrested twice in the last two weeks. State Police arrested Burdick on November 23 following an investigation into someone attempting to use forged currency at a business in Berlin. Police say the incident occurred on November 8, and that the cashier recognized that the currency was fraudulent and contacted law enforcement. Burdick reportedly fled the scene. Police charged him with possession of a forged instrument in the second degree. Burdick was released with an appearance ticket to Berlin Town Court on December 20.On December 4, State Police responded to a residence in Berlin for a reported burglary. Northbound Interstate 25 is closed eight miles south of Pueblo so road crews can recover a vehicle, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.The closure was reported by CDOT at 12:37 p.m. Friday at exit 91 for Stem Beach. Membership fees at Costco seemingly won’t be increasing anytime soon, company officials shared during an earnings call on Thursday.Costco CFO Richard Galanti shared during the call that the company has seen “strong renewal rates, strong new signups and strong loyalty” regarding its membership program.
